The Association

Mercedes Medina Díaz Association was created in memory of Mrs Mercedes Medina, who was a school teacher in Lanzarote for many years, much cherished and involved in good causes.

This association was formed with the following aims:

• Keeping alive forever the memory of teacher Mercedes Medina Díaz’s work, as well as spreading the extraordinary teaching and educational work she carried out during her career.
• Maintaining and promoting the relationships between her former students, inspired by the spirit of friendship, tolerance and pluralism, equal opportunities between men and women which favour human coexistence, as well as social projection in their arena, sharing knowledge, activities and resources.
• Contributing to commitment in society which is essential to social modernisation, thus promoting citizen participation in public life, especially regarding education and culture.
• Providing means which contribute to the promotion of education and research, as well as to the development of culture for the benefit of everyone.
• Promoting education as a means of spreading human values and complete personal development.
• Spreading educational experiences which promote values stimulating social development and people’s commitment to their surroundings.
• Promoting participation as a means of social development and transformation.
• Fostering relations with all types of institutions, whether public or private, with similar aims, and other activities of mutual interest contributing to the achievement of the aforementioned goals.
• Providing a meeting space to those interested in promoting the already mentioned activities .
